Pressing Wild Flowers

Spring is a great time to press wild flowers.  If you find wild flowers in your yard or neighborhood park, select a few to press.  Place the flowers in between pages of an old book.  Place a heavy object on the book for a week.  After the flowers dry, store them in an envelope.  The flowers can be used for your next artwork. 

Illustrate (Without Erasers)

We often like to use an eraser when drawing to clean mistakes.  I've told my students to hide the eraser & draw without using one.  It's fine to draw outside the lines or even color outside the lines.  That's where the artistic magic occurs!  Don't worry about the mistakes.  Keep drawing & let your art unfold into a creative inspiration.

Encouraging Thoughts

Writing a note or a letter with encouraging thoughts or positive words can inspire others.  Do you like to receive handwritten notes or cards?  Share your inspiring thoughts with others on a postcard, letter, or even written on a rock. :)

Art for Spring

Spring has arrived with blooming tulips & the warmth of the sun.  I drew these on cardstock using colored pencils.  Draw tulips using a variety of Spring colors.

Books To Inspire You

Do you have a favorite book?  What were the creative elements in the book?  Did a quote inspire you?  Draw a sketch that illustrates your thoughts after reading.

Drawing Birds

The Spring season brings the flight of colorful birds.  Take a photo of your favorite bird that visits your home.  Take a sketchbook & a pencil.  Use the photo as the subject to draw the bird.  Add color & a background image to complete the art.

Card Designs

I enjoy illustrating cards.  Here are a few designs I drew using markers & colored pencils.  I also place the cards in clear envelopes to keep the cards clean & for presentation.
