Christmas Tree Drawing

Here's how you can draw a simple Christmas tree.  Draw a triangle.  Draw a rectangle under the base of the triangle.  Draw a star on top of the triangle.  Add color as the finishing touch.

Christmas Ornaments

I love to design holiday ornaments on wooden or chipboard cutouts.  I draw snowmen, snowflakes, Christmas trees, & other holiday patterns on the ornaments.  I use a red or a blue ribbon to tie at the top of the ornament.  These are perfect for gift giving. :)

Orange Pumpkin

Heart Design

Leaf Drawing

A tree leaf is a good subject to draw.  Find a leaf that intrigues you.  Study the pattern of the leaf.  Look at the fine details.  Draw the leaf outline then fill in the details using a pencil.  Color the drawing using the shades of the leaf color.

Pressing Wild Flowers




Spring is a great time to press wild flowers.  If you find wild flowers in your yard or neighborhood park, select a few to press.  Place the flowers in between pages of an old book.  Place a heavy object on the book for a week.  After the flowers dry, store them in an envelope.  The flowers can be used for your next artwork.

Illustrate (Without Erasers)

We often like to use an eraser when drawing to clean mistakes.  I've told my students to hide the eraser & draw without using one.  It's fine to draw outside the lines or even color outside the lines.  That's where the artistic magic occurs!  Don't worry about the mistakes.  Keep drawing & let your art unfold into a creative inspiration.

Draw Basic Shapes

How can you draw basic shapes?  Use fruits!  Draw an oval by studying a watermelon.  Draw a moon by observing a banana.  Draw a sphere by reviewing the form of an orange.  Fruits are wonderful subjects for drawing simple shapes.

Paint: Our Universe

I took a painting class & had the opportunity to paint the universe.  I love to study the stars, planets, & galaxies.  I decided to paint the subject on astronomy.  I painted a comet, Earth, & star clusters.  I used a mixture of paint colors to create the visual effects.
